Elon Musk's new company - The Boring Company - will create tunnels under large cities for cars to move at high speed. The vehicles will descend by an elevator and will move on an electric platform. Science fiction?

The Boring Company is a name used by Musk in reference to some jokes the press made about rumors that he founded a company to make holes in the ground. The truth is that after founding an electric car manufacturer that has turned its industry around, and with SpaceX managed to send into space the first rocket capable of returning to Earth to land and then be used again, a company of TBM seems somewhat boring.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, wants to revolutionize the car transportation system by implementing elevators and tunnels that connect the different points of large cities.

"It is a long-term vision," they commented from the company. The objective is to decongest the traffic of the most populated cities and reduce environmental pollution.

The first demonstration of Elon Musk's car tunnel system has been done in a low-key way, but it could turn out to be a great millionaire project.

The first city that will put you to the test

The city of Chicago will be where a new link will be built between the airport and downtown; a futuristic transport module would be in charge of taking tourists and locals at full speed a few meters from the surface.

The tunnels would serve as an alternative path to streets and highways; a way to divert traffic during rush hour times.

The demonstration is…. boring. It is a car transported on a rail platform, nothing more. But beneath this seemingly bland video, there is great potential. In the future, these platforms could take us in our cars to predetermined destinations; close to the area we want to go to, without eating the traffic. And they will do it faster than in that test, for sure.

Elon Musk's company also shows in its video presentation some cabins that would also travel through the same tunnels where people can go, as if it were a bus.

The platforms travel in much the same way as a driverless vehicle would, adjusting speed in a connected way to optimize traffic.

According to Musk, this type of private transport through tunnels could be the future of transport in large cities, leaving the streets for vehicles that are really needed and people.
